Queen have revisited their web series The Greatest, by releasing a number of episodes in honour of a forthcoming album reissue.

The band are to release a number of episodes in honour of the forthcoming reissue of their debut album.

Previous episodes had included live performances from the band’s illustrious history, including archival Mercury material, to more recent material featuring Adam Lambert.

Queen premiered this series last week (October 18) on YouTube, a series which will explore the band’s rise in several parts.

The first episode will look into the making of the band’s 1973 debut album, which was recorded at London’s De Lane Lea Studios.

“really changed our lives”

Speaking about the studios, Queen guitarist Brian May said that their time at the De Lane Lea “really changed our lives”.

“The De Lane Lea Studios really changed our lives,” Brian May explains, “and it was just because a friend of a friend had got hold of me and said, ‘Would you like to come in and make a noise?’”.

Elsewhere, May also spoke about how quickly Freddie Mercury had adjusted to recording in a studio, going on to create the sound that would catch the eye of producer John Anthony.

However it was not always plain sailing, as Roger Taylor recalled the difficulties experienced, as the band tried to show potential suitors samples of their work from the De Lane Lea.

“It was just a grind,” Taylor stated. “I wouldn’t say it was soul-destroying because we were quite confident. We had a sort of innate, gentle arrogance. You know, we thought we were good and quite different. But, yeah, it could have been soul-destroying, but we didn’t let it get us down too much”.

The second of this series ‘Queen: The Greatest: ‘The Story Of Queen Part 2’ will premiere on November 1. More on this here.

Last week, Roger Taylor also hinted that Queen were set to release new music for the first time in almost three decades. More on this from Nova here.
