Queen‘s Bohemian Rhapsody has made music history! The iconic band have secured an internet record with the tune.
That’s after the band earned the accolade of becoming the first music act with a video released before the 1990s to achieve one billion views on YouTube.
The video for the rock band’s most famous and much-loved song has always been considered to be the first-ever promotional music video.
The NME reports that to honour mark the momentous occasion, a newly remastered HD version of the video has been shared. This will be the first time ever this revamped clip has been released on the band’s YouTube channel.
Queen have also announced ‘You Are The Champions’, a new campaign that will allow fans the opportunity to play a starring role in three new videos for three of their most classic tunes.
This campaign will see musicians, singer and instrumentalists having a go at taking on ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’.
Dancers will get the chance to deliver interpretations for ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and visual artists cam design any word or phrase from the lyrics of ‘A Kind of Magic’.
Check out YouAreTheChampions.com to add a submission. The completed videos will be shared later this year on the bands official YouTube channel.
