Alternative rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers line up more 2012 shows
For the past few weeks, funk-rock icons the Red Hot Chili Peppers have sputtered out several announcements of 2012 North American tour dates, and the list is even longer today (Dec. 12), as the guys have announced a handful of new tour dates in California, Arizona and Colorado. Tickets for the previously announced dates of the tour area currently on sale; tickets for the new shows go on sale Dec. 17.
The tour, which is technically the U.S. leg of their in-progress I’m With You world tour, is the group’s first proper tour of North America since 2007, when they made the rounds in support of 2006′s Stadium Arcadium. Of the current tour dates, the band’s Jan. 30 show in Duluth, Ga., is already sold out.
In other Peppers news, the guys recently got the good news that they’ll be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next year. Upon hearing the news, the first thing frontman Anthony Kiedis did was put in a phone call to his pops. “I called my dad. I told him that he couldn’t say anything because it hadn’t been publicly announced yet,” Kiedis told Rolling Stone. “I know my dad is a big Internet freak, and he’s been known to be a Wikileaker. I was like, “Dad, you and I are blood. I’m going to tell you something, but you can’t tell anybody.” I guess it’s just something that you want to share with the people that you’re closest to, like family and longtime friends. My dad cried.” The Red Hot Chili Peppers get inducted into the Hall April 14 in Cleveland, along with Guns N’ Roses, Beastie Boys and other well-deserving rockers.
