Weezer have revealed that they are working on a new movie project.
The 'Teenage Dirtbag' rockers revealed this during their Coachella 2025 appearance, where they also played a string of classic tracks, as part of a set which had only been announced a few days earlier.
The news was confirmed by their frontman, Rivers Cuomo, who told the crowd that they had been working on a mysterious film project over the past month.
“We’ve been busy making the Weezer movie back in LA the last couple weeks, but when Coachella called us up, said, ‘Hey Weezer, could you guys make it out for a surprise appearance?,’ we’re like, ‘Heck yeah!’” Cuomo said. “It feels so good to be here with you guys and let out these emotions".
While no other details were confirmed, one eagle eyed Weezer subreddit user did mention that the band had invited fans to a “private filmed merchandise signing for a select few fans for a TBA video” next week (April 21). More on this here.
These fans will also be required to sign NDAs to prevent the nature of this video being released to the public domain, while photography is also prohibited.
News of this comes just week after Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist, Scott Shriner, was shot by police officers, before being taken in for attempted murder. It was also reported that Lauren had fired at police officers first. More on this from Nova here.
