The legend behind Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant, has announced dates for Ireland and the UK.
The singer will perform at Belfast’s Ulster Hall on Saturday, December 2 before heading to Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on Sunday, December 3.
The shows are for his new album ‘Carry Fire’ which will be released October 13.
The new album, which is his 11th solo album, feature Pretenders singer Chrissie Hynde on a duet cover of “Bluebirds Over the Mountain,”
In a statement released about the album, Plant described it as “It’s about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work. I must mix old with new,”
Plant had been teasing the release of his new album recently with posts containing presumably lyrics from his new tracks
The mysterious messages lead many fans to suspect there could be a Led Zeppelin reunion. The band have only performed together on 3 separate occasions since they split in 1980. In 1985, at Live Aid, three years later at the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary gig and in 2007 at the Celebration Day concert.
Plant apparently turned down $14 million to perform with surviving bandamtes John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page at the Desert Trip festival in 2016, but this rumour was never confirmed to be true or false.
Plant last released an album in 2014, ‘Lullaby and the Ceaseless Roar’ in 2014. This was in collaboration with the ‘Sensational Space Shifters’, who Plant confirmed would return for his follow-up album.
Plant will be turning 69 this weekend and despite the age shows no signs of slowing down.
