Rod Stewart has cancelled his 200th residency celebration show in Las Vegas due to a strep throat.

The singer has said that he is “absolutely gutted” to cancel the show, which was to take place today at the Colesseum at Caesars Palace, a venue he has performed in over the last 13 years.

However, the singer has been forced to pull the plug on this show due to a strep throat, telling his fans that he is “desperately sorry”.

“I am absolutely gutted” – Says Rod Stewart

Just hours before he was due to perform his last show, Rod Stewart made the decision to call off the show, owing to a strep throat.

“Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me”, Stewart said. “I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long”.

“My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully we’ll now be returning in 2025 and I hope to see you all there”.

However, the Maggie May singer did confirm that he would perform a range of shows at the venue, taking place next Spring.

“Vegas, I’m having too much fun for this to end so we are coming back for an encore!”, he said. “Don’t miss The Encore Shows Las Vegas Residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace March 12-22 & May 29-June 8!”.

Rod Stewart’s next show is to take place at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena in Stateline, Nevada this Friday.

Last month, the singer spoke about turning 80 next year, admitting that his days could be “numbered”.

“I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear”, he said. “We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket”.

“I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few – probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy”.
