For the first time, Rory McIlroy has spoken about his shock divorce announcement and subsequent U-turn in the Netflix series, Full Swing.
Last Summer, McIlroy filed for divorce from his wife Erica Stoll, before calling off proceedings in a filling in Palm Beach County, Florida, a month later; calling it a "new beginning" for his family.
"Thankfully, we have resolved our differences and look forward to a new beginning", McIlroy said in a statement. More on this here.
In the latest series of Full Swing, Rory McIlroy addresses his divorce U-turn, and all the rumours that came with it.
Such rumours included that he was allegedly seeing reporter, Amanda Balionis during his golf tour last year. This rumour was never confirmed nor addressed.
"There's parts of my life that I like to keep as private as possible. Unfortunately, in this line of work that isn't always possible", McIlroy told fellow golfer, Martin Kaymer. "Thankfully, everything has worked out for the best and we're happy and moving forward and I can't wait for what lies ahead".
Elsewhere, the golfers also spoke about Eric's dislike of the sun.
"If it was up to her she wouldn't move to England straight away but she definitely wants to spend more time there", McIlroy said.
Kaymer responded: "I saw her at a Starbucks once and she said: "I really don't like the sun." I said, "Your state's called the Sunshine State, right?".
Rory McIlroy and Erica Stoll have been married since 2017, with their daughter Poppy, arriving in September 2020.
Earlier this month, it was also confirmed that Rory McIlroy would make his debut on the movie screens, when he appears in the upcoming sequel to the 1990s blockbuster, Happy Gilmore, starring Adam Sandler. The sequel will also include golfers Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Kepka, Will Zalatoris, Justin Thomas, and Scottie Scheffler.
