Rush to all intents and purposes retired after their last tour. That was owing to health reasons, guitarist Alex Lifeson has been enduring psoriatic arthritis and drummer Neil Peart has chronic tendinitis.

Now, lead singer Geddy Lee has said that even though the rockers stay close, he can't envisage the three of them working together again.

When the legendary rockers kicked off their R40 tour to celebrate their 40th anniversary, Lifeson confirmed that it would probably be the group's last full-scale live stint.

Book of Bass

In a recent interview with The Chronicle Herald, Lee was talking about his "Big Beautiful Book of Bass". During the discussion, he was quizzed about the chance of the iconic rock band working together again.

Lee replied, "I don't really know. Alex is turning into this supersession guy. He loves playing on other people's records without the responsibilities of having to write anything other than his solo. I know he's really digging that."

The bassist continued:

"I've been doing the book, but we talk quite a lot. We see each other quite a lot. And we visit with Neil quite often. So we're all close but I don't think we would ever do a project - the three of us."

However, Lee left a tiny glimmer of hope with regard to future music:

"It's certainly possible that Alex and I would do something down the road. I can't see the three of us ever really doing anything."
