In a recent interview the comedian reveals how his career could have taken a very different path!!
Comedian Russell Brand has tried his hand at many different ventures in his career. Never one to be boxed in, he’s been an author, comedian, actor, radio presenter and now it seems he even tried his hand at music – auditioning for none other than British 90’s boyband 5ive!!
Check out the video below!
Brand made the revelations on the UK special of James Corden’s Late Late Show, saying: “As a young man, I made many mistakes, during one of my frenzies brought on by the methamphetamine, I thought that perhaps I’d do rather well in the boyband 5ive.
“I believe I sang ‘More Than Words’ by the band Extreme.
“I’ll recreate it if you want but it was a disaster then, and I think it would be even worse now.”
Brand added he arrived at the audition with a bottle of beer in his hand but he did set it aside while he took to the microphone, but after his disastrous audition, he said he was shown the door pretty quickly.
Ritchie Neville, Scott Robinson, Abz Love, J Brown and Sean Conlon, went on to be selected for the group and sold millions of records as well as winning a Brit Award.
However, Brand thinks they missed a trick not hiring him. He said: “I could have been the maverick in the boyband. The troubled one, the first into rehab one.”
Check out one of the groups hit below ‘Everyone Get up’. And as you view it imagine Brand dancing away with them. Lols
Russell has put his wild days behind him and settled down with girlfriend Laura Gallacher, with the couple welcoming daughter Mabel in November last year.
