Scott Weiland was recently let go from his own band, Stone Temple Pilots, but in the crazy music world, that doesn’t mean he won’t be back with the guys at some point. The singer says that he would like to tour with STP again, so long as they amp up what the band offers live with more than just the ‘90s classics.Scott Weiland says he’d like to get back in the studio with Stone Temple Pilots

“My philosophy is that I don’t feel like going on the road and playing a greatest-hits set that we’ve been playing for five years,” he told Cleveland Scene magazine. “If we’re going to do something, we need to get back in the studio with [producer] Brendan O’Brien, who has a track record with us, and get re-inspired artistically again.”

Above all, Weiland wants to make sure STP doesn’t become an act that relies solely on their past success. “We need to [make a new album] and get out there on the road and get out there with some excitement and not just turn our legacy into what Journey or Foreigner is,” he explains. “That’s not what we’re about. That’s not at all what I’m about.”

At the moment, Weiland out on the road on a North American tour, pulling out hits from STP’s first two studio releases, 1992’s “Core” and 1994’s “Purple.” Weiland is performing with his new solo band, the Wildabouts, on his current tour.
