The Central Criminal Court has confirmed that the sentence hearing of two boys who murdered Ana Kriegel will go ahead on Tuesday.

One of them lured the 14-year-old schoolgirl to a derelict farmhouse in Dublin in May last year.

Both were convicted of murder in June after a lengthy trial and one of them was also found guilty of aggravated sexual assault.

Due to their ages, the mandatory life sentence doesn’t apply so sentencing was adjourned previously to allow for various reports to be compiled.

They include probation reports, psychiatric and psychological reports, school reports – anything that will help the judge construct sentences.

The judge was told today that the reports are ready and all sides are in a position to proceed with the hearing as planned on Tuesday.

A Victim Impact Statement on behalf of Ana’s parents Geraldine and Patrick will also be made available.

Only five journalists will be allowed into the courtroom by order of the judge who felt such a restriction was needed to protect the boys’ best interests, dignity and health.
