Shane MacGowan is recovering in hospital, following a recent stint in intensive care.
This comes after it was reported that the Pogues’ star was first admitted to hospital at the end of June.
MacGowan’s wife Victoria Mary Clarke had initially spoken about her husband’s health in an Instagram post shared last month, which also tagged the singer’s account.
“There has been a lot of turbulence in my life recently and it’s been very emotional and also scary”, she wrote.
“But this past few days I have noticed that even though there’s a LOT of fear there is also a huge amount of love and support and incredible blessings. I think that our minds can be VERY resistant to change and to having our lives shaken up and rearranged and we need to be very gentle and patient with ourselves…”.
She also added, “It’s a challenge to stay present with your feelings. Thank you to everyone who has been supporting me and @shanemacgowanofficial”.
MacGowan “doing well”
Following this, Victoria Mary Clarke has now confirmed that MacGowan has spent a number of days in intensive care with an unspecified health problem, adding that he is “doing well”.
“He is still in hospital but he is doing well and being looked after”, she said. “I didn’t want to worry people. He is out of the ICU and doing well”.
Pogues music legend Shane MacGowan has been in a wheelchair since 2015, after breaking his pelvis. He also tore a ligament, and broke his knee in 2020.
MacGowan had also spent some time in hospital back in December, after being treated for viral encephalitis, where the brain becomes inflamed.
The singer also suffered with shingles. However, he made a full recovery and was subsequently released. Find out more on this report from Nova here.
