“put their heart into it”
This news comes just months after the band had confirmed that they will play two Summer Shows at Cork in June.
Simply Red will take to the stage Live At The Marquee on 1 June, before hitting Botanic Gardens on June 2.
“I’ve spent most of my life going out and singing for people, so it feels strange not to have that”, Mick Hucknall said. “I miss being able to express myself. It’s going to be wonderfully inspiring when people can go and see bands again. I can’t wait”.
Mick Hucknall has been the lead songwriter for the band since 1985, while Ian Kirkham has served as saxophonist since 1986.
On the upcoming shows, Hucknall also had this to say. “I want them to enjoy playing, for crowds to get up and move around, and everybody to put their heart into it. It’s all about capturing the groove”.
He also added, “I’ve spent most of my life going out and singing for people, and it has felt strange not to have that for such a long time. It’s wonderfully inspiriting that people can go and see bands again now, and I can’t wait to get back on stage”.
