Slade lead singer Noddy Holder has shared a new health update in his ongoing cancer battle, after being given 6 months to live in 2018.

Earlier this year, Holder’s wife Suzan had explained that her husband was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer five years ago.

Suzan also revealed that Noddy was given just 6 months to live, when he was initially diagnosed.

In an article which appeared in Great British Life magazine, Suzan said, “Five years ago we were given the devastating news that he [Noddy] had oesophageal cancer and only had six months to live”.

Describing it as a “total bombshell”, Suzan Holder insisted that Noddy was coping with his diagnosis with a “good humour and breath-taking bravery”.

She also added that the Slade lead vocalist had undergone “a gruelling course of experimental treatment as part of a brand-new trial of intense chemotherapy”.

According to Suzan, Noddy Holder had “responded well” to these treatments.

“carries on that way”

Since then, Noddy Holder has now said that this experimental treatment has been integral to prolonging his life, exceeding the doctor’s expectations.

“I lost all my hair,” Holder said in a recent interview. “My weight was down to about eight stone.” However, the treatment has been working and Holder said that “everything’s on an even keel”.

“So I hope it carries on that way,” he added, joking that he was “fit, fit, fit, but I’m fit for nothing”.

Noddy’s wife Suzan also added,  “As anyone who has received a cancer diagnosis will know, the experts never like to use the word ‘cure’, but here we are five years later and he’s feeling good and looking great”.

Back in 2020, Noddy Holder had said that fans often mistake him for Wizzard’s Roy Wood, and sing the wrong Christmas song at him.
