GNR axeman, Slash has admitted that he was a little hesitant of the thought of Axl Rose taking on the epic task of fronting AC/DC. Slash has now revealed that he thinks the singer did a great job with the show.
Axl was asked to play by the legendary rockers in 2016 to replace Brian Johnson on their Rock Or Bust tour after the singer was instructed that he could lose his hearing if he persisted at touring.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Slash gave his thoughts, “The Axl-doing-AC/DC thing. I went and checked that out and it was awesome. I was probably as sceptical as anybody because of the iconic status of the band, and he pulled it off and it was great.”
The guitarist talked about how he would respond if he received a call to step in for another group just like Axl Rose did. Slash said, “I’m probably a little bit more intimidated about the idea of having to fill someone’s shoes – someone I look up to or had a big influence on me. If I was going to get that phone call, I’d want to do it in a band that no one would expect me to be in.”
