Fitz took to social media to give an update: "Unfortunately, I've had to leave the current SMKC tour due to emergency surgery for a detached retina." The drummer expressed his unhappiness at his situation:
"It leaves me heartbroken to not be able to play the last week of shows. I will miss everyone but just know that the mighty Shane Gaalaas has come to save the day on drums!"
Brent Fitz leaves the band after they completed an August 4th show at Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL.
It's reported that Gaalaas will join the group for the last six performances of the stint.
According to Antmusic, he'll kick off with an August 6th show at The Ryman in Nashville, TN and complete the tour at Hard Rock Live in Orlando, FL on August 13th.
This is the second temporary exit for Myles Kennedy and co on their 2019 tour. That's after axeman Frank Sidoris' left in June to be with his wife for her first chemotherapy treatment.
