It’s been ages since Snow Patrol released the brilliant Fallen Empires, their 6th LP, released in 2011. They teased us with their greatest hits album in 2013 and now it looks like we’re finally getting some new tracks from Lightbody & Co.

They have taken to their social media to tease their long awaited comeback album; confirming that album seven is likely to drop later this year and they are working with producer Jacknife Lee.

Frontman, Gary Lightbody uploaded a lengthy post to the band’s instagram page over the weekend (March 26th) writing:

“For the folks asking about the new snow patrol album, #SP7. Here’s the news. We had a breakthrough recording session in Feb and are on the home straight(sic). The awesome Jacknife Lee is in the producer’s chair as usual and we have more time with him in the studio in May/June and will be finished at the end of June. Hopefully that gives us plenty of time to bring the album out this year. That is the plan. Plans are fallible but we’ll damn well try our best. “

Lightbody explained that there had been a few “false starts” on the album for himself, Connolly, Wilson, McDaid & Quinn but they are now “on the right track”.

Proudly proclaiming, “It’s sounding mighty” and promising updates from the studio from late May onwards. Looking forward to it!

Meanwhile, Lightbody has also posted a series of Bon Iver, Foy Vance, Ryan Adams, Leonard Cohen and John Martyn covers on the band’s official website.
