Adam Schlesinger, the leader and songwriter for Fountains Of Wayne, died last night in a New York hospital at age 52, due to Coronovirus.

He is survived by two daughters and had been hospitalized for over a week.

Schlesinger, who among many other things, was a Grammy and Emmy winner for his work on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, as well as an Oscar, Golden Globe, and Tony award nominee.

In addition to hits, like, "Stacy's Mom," which he co-wrote for Fountain's Of Wayne, you may be familiar with Schlesinger’s for writing the theme song to Tom Hanks' directorial debut, That Thing You Do.

Hanks, who himself is recovering from COVID-19, tweeted about the "terribly sad" news of Schlesinger's death.

"There would be no Playtone without Adam Schlesinger, without his That Thing You Do!" Hanks wrote. "He was a One-der. Lost him to Covid-19."

Fran Drescher also mourned the loss of Schlesinger, who she said was writing music for “The Nanny” musical. “My prayers are for you. May peace be with you,” she wrote.
