Stereophonics drummer Jamie Morrison was rushed to hospital just minutes before he was due to perform live on stage.
Morrison who also drums for 86TVs, was set to perform at Nottingham’s Rescue Rooms on Monday night, as part of the band’s 2024 tour.
The band who were due to finish this tour on Sunday (December 1), were scheduled to perform in Manchester, Bristol, London, Cambridge and Leeds.
Monday’s gig in Nottingham was cancelled, with 86TVs confirming the news regarding their drummer Morrison in a statement.
“quite a dramatic day” – 86TVs confirm Morrison being taken ill
In their statement, 86TVs said that Jamie Morrison was rushed to hospital, and has been advised by doctors to take some time away from the stage.
“We had quite a dramatic day yesterday when, minutes before doors opened in Nottingham, Jamie was rushed into hospital. He is still in there and has been strongly advised by doctors to not attempt to do the shows this week”, they said.
“We are all heartbroken about this – the shows on this run really have been our best ever – but obviously health comes first. Please send your love and get wells to one of the best to ever do it”.
They also added: “Huge apologies to anyone who has made plans for these shows, especially with long distance travel. We know there are a number of you that have had plans around this for a long time and were planning on sending off this record with us this week”.
Jamie Morrison is part of 86TVs, alongside The Maccabees’ pair Hugo & Felix White and their brother Will.
Last month, Stereophonics announces a new tour, which will include shows at Dublin’s St Anne’s Park and Cork’s Virgin Media Park next June, their first set of live shows in three years.
