Stevie Nicks has said she plans to release a new album.
The Fleetwood Mac legend revealed this during an acceptance speech at Pollstar Hall of Fame, which saw her being inducted into the Hall of Fame by Jimmy Lovine.
According to Nicks, she is “actually making a record right now,” adding: “I call it the ‘Ghost’ record because it just kind of happened in the last couple of weeks".
“I have seven songs and they are autobiographical, real stories where I’m not pulling any punches for probably the first time in my life,” Nicks continued. “They’re not airy-fairy songs that you’re wondering who they’re about, but you really don’t get it. They are real stories, memories of mine, of fantastic men".
Elsewhere, Stevie Nicks revealed that she was inspired to make the album after reflecting on her friendship with music legend Prince.
The singer recalled that she had met up with Prince following the premiere of Purple Rain, saying that watching Prince slap the film's love interest Apollonia saw her "freak out" and “go to the fancy bathroom and sit there for the rest of the whole movie".
Nicks also said that Prince had brought her a gift, despite telling him that he only loved the first half of the film.
“‘It’s a really beautiful 24 carat necklace with little gold hearts on it.’ And he goes, ‘I don’t want your necklace’ and then he said, ‘You always bring me a gift. You never bring me you", she explained.
The singer also stated that Lovine was "next" in the line of men that she would write about. They dated between 1980 and 1981.
