Sting has had to postpone upcoming shows due to illness, a statement on his website and official Instagram read this week. The Police singer was due to appear at the Bass Magazine Awards tomorrow, 24th January, but has been advised by his doctor to be on vocal rest.  The STING 3.0 concerts in Arizona and California, due to take place this weekend, have also been postponed to June 1 and May 28 respectively.

The announcement was made on Tuesday this week, advising fans to hold on to their tickets "as they will be honored on the new dates". It came amid news that his performance at the Cherrytree Music Company's 20th anniversary would now be taking place on 29th May. Sting is the headline performer at the independent music publisher's event.

Worried fans were not left waiting long for reassurance, in the form of a follow-up post on the singer's Instagram. It reads: "I am steadily improving from a temporary throat infection which has prevented me from singing, though I’m looking forward to resuming my performances and rescheduled shows soon.” He thanked everyone for their well-wishes, outpourings of which can be read in the comments below his social media statement.

It appears that Sting's appearance at a benefit concert next week is to go ahead, for now at least. FireAid will support wildfire relief in L.A and takes place on the 30th January. He will play alongside Stevie Nicks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rod Stewart, Greenday and more. Amazon, AppleTV, Disney+ and YouTube will all be streaming the concerts.

Radio Nova wishes the 'Every Breath You Take' singer a speedy recovery.
