The suit that Cillian Murphy wore in the final episodes of 'Peaky Blinders' is going up for auction.
The 48-year-old actor played the iconic gangster Tommy Shelby in the multi-award-winning BBC series. The Cork man wore the 1920s style three piece grey suit in the final episodes of the sixth season.
The suit comes with a note found in a pocket and thought to have been written by Murphy, which says: “takes off ring”, as well as a 10-page call sheet and a shirt tailored by Williams and Gill of Manchester.
Going up in the Omega Auctions sale, the suit is estimated to fetch somewhere between £1,000 and £2,000.
However this isn't the only 'Peaky Blinders' memorabilia up for auction. Joining the suit is a hat worn by Sam Claflin, who played fascist MP Oswald Mosley during series five and six. It is expected to sell for between £200 and £400.
A coat worn by the late Helen McCrory, who played Polly Grey, in episode four of the third series is also expected to fetch between £200 and £400.
All proceeds from the auction will go to The Christie Charity, which supports cancer patients and research in Manchester.
Auction manager at Omega Auctions Dan Muscatelli-Hampson said: “These stunning pieces are genuine cultural artefacts – the craftsmanship, history, and star power behind them is exceptional.”
“We’re honoured to host the auction and support The Christie Charity in the process.”
On the 20th of May, the final day of the auction, fans will be able to view the costumes and bid for them at the Peaky Blinders bar on Peter Street in Manchester. The event is completely free and tickets can be found on the Christie Charity website.
Murphy is set to his reprise his role as the flat cap wearing crime boss in a Peaky Blinders film which just finished production at the end of last year. No solid release date has been given but creators have said that they hope to have it ready for the end of 2025, or early 2026.
The original series ran from 2013 to 2022 and was set in 1920s England, shortly after the first World War. The show follows Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby and his life working for the flat-cap-wearing crime gang, the Peaky Blinders.
