Sum 41 have cancelled their upcoming Australian tour, as frontman Deryck Whibley is taken ill.
The band have confirmed this news via a post on their Facebook account, as Whibley battles pneumonia.
In a post which has since been deleted, Sum 41 said: “It is with deep sadness and regret that we announce our 2024 Australian tour is unable to proceed", adding that they were “beyond excited” to “connect with our Aussie fans once more".
These dates down under were scheduled to be Sum 41's last dates of the year. The band were set to disband at the end of this tour on January 30 next year.
The tour was titled: ‘Tour Of The Setting Sum’.
In their statement, the band have said that Deryck Whibley is “under the guidance and direction of multiple Australian doctors”, and that they decided to cancel these shows because “Deryck is too unwell to perform".
Sum 41 were set to perform as co-headliners at Australia's Good Things Festival with Korn in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sidney over the weekend.
Confirming the band's cancellation, the festival added that “Deryck’s health and wellbeing is the focus and priority”. Read this announcement in full here.
