Talking Heads bass player Tina Weymouth says band’s future depends on frontman David Byrnetalking heads image

The last time ’70s and ‘80s new wave band Talking Heads played a show was back in 2002, when the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Now, time has passed, and fans are itching to see the band get together to do a reunion tour. According to bass player Tina Weymouth, she and most of the band members dig the idea of getting back out on the road, but the decision rests with someone else.

“You’ll have to ask [frontman] David Byrne about that,” Weymouth told Rolling Stone. “I don’t see why there shouldn’t be a reunion. On the other hand, I’m not going to hold my breath because life goes on. We are in touch with the band and we all would love to do it, but we can’t do it without David.”

Meanwhile, Weymouth is keeping plenty busy on a European trek with her other band, Tom Tom Club, which features her husband and founding Talking Heads drummer Chris Frantz. That band recently released their first studio album since 2000, “Downtown Rockers.”
