Talking Heads reportedly turned down an offer worth $80 million to reunite.
Rumours that the band were to reunite were ignited last year, after drummer Chris Frantz posted a photo on Facebook, along with the accompanying caption, “a picture is worth a billion words”.
Previous to this, Talking Heads’ bassist Tina Weymouth has stated that the band were simply “savouring the moment” for the time being.
“We’re just savouring the moment. We’re so happy that it’s resulted in this wonderful thing that’s lasted 40 years. And we’re not really looking too far into the future”, Tina Weymouth said.
“We might be standing on the corner and a bus will knock us down. We’re super glad we’re alive. We’re all four here to enjoy the moment”.
Talking Heads Turn Down Offers
According to reports, concert giants Live Nation became the latest company to offer a large sum of money for David Byrne and co to reunite.
Reports had also suggested that Talking Heads could have made “as much as $10 million”, after Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett made an offer to the band to reunite at Cochella.
However, both offers were turned down by the band.
Talking Heads who were made up of David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz and Jerry Harrison, have not performed together since being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
