A new app has been set up by Dublin taxi drivers.
Hola charges drivers 1 euro a fare, while Uber and FreeNow charge 12 and 15 per cent on all fares respectively.
Uber has welcomed competition into the market, while FreeNow says drivers get bonuses from the company.
The creators say close to a thousand drivers have signed up.
"Our ethos is to keep everything as low as possible," says co-founder of the app Larry Kelly.
"Really a taxi is part of the service industry. We want to service the customer at the best rate possible.
"If things fluctuate in such a way that we may have to look at increasing the €1 [charge], we'll go to drivers first."
Uber Ireland says it welcomes the competition in the market, while FreeNow say drivers regularly get bonuses.
