A 16-year-old teen has tragically died following his collapse during a football game in Dublin on Tuesday evening, December 12th.

Shelbourne FC broke the news this morning, saying they were 'heartbroken' to confirm the news their U16 player, Izzy Dezu had passed.

The team were taking part in the Dublin and District U16 Schoolboys League against opposition St. Kevin's when the teen collapsed during the second half.

It has been reported a defibrillator was used to attempt to resuscitate the youth at the pitch but he sadly passed on.

Shelbourne FC stated: "We are heartbroken to have to confirm the news that our Academy U16 player, Izzy Dezu, collapsed and died during a match last night."

"The thoughts of everyone at Shelbourne FC are with his family and friends who have been devastated by his tragic loss. May he rest in peace."
