On Oct 4th beloved Irish band The Devlins will release an album- their first since the acclaimed ‘Waves’ (2005). It’s called ‘All The days’, and the title track ‘Slipping Through Your Hands’ is a welcomed reintroduction to the band’s cinematic sound, with producer Rob Kirwan (Hozier, PJ Harvey, Depeche Mode) at the helm.
The Devlins, formed by brothers Colin and Peter Devlin, released their debut album Drift in 1993 to critical acclaim, earning a four-star review in Rolling Stone. Their music has since been included in the likes of HBO’s Six Feet Under soundtrack, The Sopranos and 1995’s Batman Forever, among other works complemented by The Devlin’s atmospheric sound. Receiving positive reviews for both their records and their live shows, they steadily built a loyal fan-base, progressing to high profile support tours and then headline shows across Europe, America and Canada after the release of their second album ‘Waiting’ (‘97).
Having played All Together Now Festival this summer, the 4 boys will line out again at Whelans on Oct 24th for a headline gig in the main venue, with tickets priced at €21.50, to follow the long-anticipated release of ‘All The Days’.
The new album’s lead single, ‘Slipping Through Your Hands’ was released on July 17th of this year and lead vocalist Colin reflects, “It’s an emotional and uplifting song that deals with time passing, with accepting and letting go. It deals with resilience and holding on to the magic and the light”…”It’s one of the strongest songs The Devlins have ever recorded and we hope that as many people as possible get to hear it”.
The album in full, released on Blue Élan Records, is a testament to the band’s resilience and artistic evolution, and is set to resonate deeply with both longtime fans and new listeners alike. Be sure to catch them for in Whelans on October 24th for what is sure to be a special one.
