Gardai investigating the disappearance and murder of Willie Maughan and Anna Varslavanne have made three arrests, as searches continue today in Co. Meath as part of the investigation.
Willie and Ana had been together since 2014 and lived in a caravan in Gormanston, Co Meath. The following year they were planning on moving into Willie’s family home in Tallaght.
On Tuesday April 14th 2015 at 2:30pm, Willie asked his Mum Helen to collect them in Gormanston. Helen arrived half an hour later, but Willie and Ana never showed, and were reported missing that evening.
Gardai later upgraded the case to a murder investigation in September 2016. The couples bodies have never been found. Gardai say searches are now being carried out at a location in Co. Meath.
Three people have been arrested today as part of the investigation into their disappearance and murder. They are two men, aged in their 50s and 60s, and a woman in her 40s.
Gardai are appealing for anyone with any information relating to the investigation to contact them.
