Staff at TikTok's Dublin office face an uncertain time. The company is set to lay off a number of staff as part of a global headcount reduction.
TikTok currently employs around 3,000 people at its Grand Canal offices, with many working in content moderation. The latest redundancies will impact employees across multiple regions, including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.
Under Irish law, companies must notify the Department of Enterprise if 30 or more staff are being made redundant. However, the department has confirmed that no such notification has been received from TikTok at this time.
The layoffs follow similar job cuts at other tech giants, including Meta and X, as the sector continues to adjust to changing business conditions.
In 2024, TikTok cut jobs in other departments.
