Daily on Radio Nova we like to mark Music History. Stuff that happened on this day years gone by.

1968, The Beatles picked up till only Grammy until 2024. The '68 one was for Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and it won album of the year, best cover and best-engineered and recorded album.

1977, Two heads from Lynyrd Skynyrd were punched unconscious after a scrap broke out- between the band and members of the London Met police boxing team!! Put up your Dukes!

1980, the glasses Buddy Holly was wearing the day he died were discovered in a police station in Iowa. You recall that plane crash of '58 was branded 'the day the music died'

1992, U2 kicked off the north American leg of their 'Zoo TV Tour' in Florida.

2000, Elton John bailed the opening of his new Broadway musical show, 'Aida', after 15 minutes complaining that his songs had been ruined!

2012, Davy Jones, the Manchester-born lead singer with 60's band The Monkees, died aged 66.
