Tributes have flowed from his many colleagues and collaborators for the former 2FM radio DJ Simon Young upon the news of his sad passing.
Thomas Meade began his career in the halycon days of pirate radio in the 1970s progressing to greater national prominence in the 1980s.
His warm presence and excellent presentation drew him followers aplenty in his radio career, while his ability to relate to people also won him favour.
The vibrant Young also presented The Beatbox, a popular radio and TV simulcast in the late 1980's, into the early 1990's. He also contributed to Dempsey's Den, hosted by his radio colleague Ian Dempsey.
In the 80s, he also presented Simon's Choice or Simon's Saturday Choice on Saturday mornings.
Another radio legend has left us.
