Donald Trump Has Become the 47th President of the United States of America.
In the shadow of criminal court hearings over the last year, his return to the White House is seen as a stunning political revival.
Sworn in by Chief Justice John Roberts, Trump assumes office alongside his vice president, JD Vance, who was sworn in by Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
Delivering an address that echoed his campaign’s central themes, Trump declared, “The golden age of America begins right now,” vowing to prioritise his vision of national resurgence.
Early indications suggest his administration will immediately pursue bold policy changes, including moves to end birthright citizenship and the declaration of a national emergency at the southern border.
“We will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens,” Trump said during his inaugural address. “For this purpose, we are establishing the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties and revenues.”
Sources within the new administration have also hinted at potential pardons for select January 6 rioters, a decision that is likely to stoke further division in an already politically fractured nation.
Trump said he will change the name of Gulf of Mexico to "Gulf of America."
The President also said he would take steps towards exploration on Mars.
“We will pursue our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the Stars and Stripes on the planet Mars,” Trump said.
