U2 have announced a new concert movie, which was filmed during their record breaking Las Vegas residency.

This record-breaking residency came to an end back in March, which showed more and more dates added to it due to popular demand.

The final show of their residency saw U2 pay tribute to drummer Larry Mullen Jr, who was forced to miss these shows as he recuperates from neck surgery. More on this here.

“immersive”

Described as an “immersive concert film”, the film titled V-U2, has been described as being “created specifically for Sphere, and will utilize the venue’s technologies to create an experience that is only possible at this next-generation entertainment medium”.

The film is also being directed by U2 guitarist The Edge and Moreleigh Steinberg over the course of this incredible residency.

In a statement, The Edge had this to say.

“The goal was to give the immersive moviegoers as close to the live U2:UV concert experience as possible — and then some”, he said. “The goal was to give the immersive moviegoers as close to the live U2:UV concert experience as possible — and then some”.

A trailer for V-U2 was also released, with The Edge telling fans: “After all these years, I get to see a U2 show”.

V-U2 will also be the first film to be shot using Big Sky, a high-resolution camera system developed by Sphere Entertainment.
