U2 To Celebrate ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ With Special Live Stream

U2 are to mark the 20th anniversary of their album, ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ with the release of their their concert: Vertigo: Live From Chicago on YouTube.

This film was taken from the band’s 2005-06 Vertigo Tour, which took place in Chicago’s United Center in May 2005.

How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb was a huge success for U2, reaching number one in 34 different countries, including the US. It also included hits tracks such as ‘Vertigo’, and ‘All Because Of You’.

U2: ‘How To Re-Assemble An Atomic Bomb’

As part of these celebrations, U2 also confirmed the release of a standalone record.

Arriving next week (November 29), the album will be available in a physical format for Record Store Day Black Friday as a limited black and red marble 1LP vinyl.

“The sessions for ‘How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb’ were such a creative period for the band, we were exploring so many song ideas in the studio. We were inspired to revisit our early music influences, and it was a time of deep personal introspection for Bono who was attempting to process – dismantle – the death of his father”, The Edge said of this album

Elsewhere, The Edge also revealed that U2 have and “awful lot of material” for their next album.

He said: “We’re working on so many different things. During the whole Covid lockdown, I just went crazy into creating tracks and song ideas. So we’re starting to go through some of those, and we’ve got an awful lot of material to wade through to see what it is”.
