A man known as YZ, who can’t be named by court order, has been jailed for thirty years for his “lead role” in the abduction and torture of Kevin Lunney.
Two others were also handed lengthy sentences for their roles in what happened to the director of Quinn Industrial Holdings.
After returning home from work on September 17th 2019, Kevin Lunney was dragged out of his car by two masked men.
He was then bundled into the boot of another man’s car and taken to a yard in Co Cavan.
Here, he was forced into a horse box where he was beaten and attacked with a knife before being “left for dead” on the side of a quiet country road. Throughout his ordeal, he was repeatedly told to resign from his role at Quinn Industrial Holdings.
A man, who can’t yet be named by order of the court, was described by the judges as the “ringleader.” He inflicted the most injuries and was jailed for 30 years today.
Two men from East Wall in Dublin 3 were also sentenced today.
40-year-old Alan O’Brien was the driver of the car that rammed into Mr Lunney’s outside his home. He also restrained him en route to the yard. He was jailed for 25 years.
Darren Redmond, who’s 27, was jailed for 15 years for the assistance he gave to the gang.
