Washington and the visiting Irish as St. Patrick's Day beckons, and Donald Trump says he's "looking forward" to visiting Ireland in the future.

The U.S. President made the declaration in his meeting with the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at the White House ahead of the national holiday in the traditional and much envied Irish invite to the White House.

The U.S. President says he wants to visit his property in Doonbeg in County Clare and may do so before his re-election campaign begins.

The two leaders discussed trade, immigration as well as the issue of the undocumented Irish and a potential deal for them, also forming a part of the talks. President Trump also touched on serious topics as trade, military assistance, and cyber-security as well as small talk about golf.

Trump also indicated that in any visit to Ireland, that the trip might include a tour of the border with Northern Ireland.

Leo Varadkar will hand over the traditional bowl of shamrock in a further exchange in the White House.
