The vandalism of a statue of Luke Kelly has been described as a ‘mindless act’.
Dublin City Council officials removed the black paint from the sculpture on Guild Street, close to where the singer was raised.
Gardai are investigating the incident which happened between 6 o clock and 8:15 yesterday evening.
Irish stone and masonry conservation firm P Mac said that the graffiti had been“safely removed without a trace.
