Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has warned that local lockdowns remain an option for Government if there is a spike in Covid-19.
It comes after large crowds were seen socialising in Dublin and other parts of the country over the weekend.
The CMO said he was ‘absolutely shocked’ by the scenes he saw in Dublin.
Dr Holohan tweeted: “Drove into Dublin City Centre to collect someone from work at 815 PM. Absolutely shocked at scenes in South Great George’s St, Exchequer St, South William St area.
“Enormous crowds – like a major open-air party. This is what we do not need when we have made so much progress.”
A major clean up operation had to take place yesterday.
