Chelsea came from behind to beat relegation threatened Southampton 3-2 in the day's opening match in the Premier League at St Mary's.
Dusan Tadic and Jan Bednarek scored for the Saints either side of the break before a late rally from the visitors.
Olivier Giroud scored twice either side of a goal from Eden Hazard.
Chelsea have closed the gap to 7 points on fourth placed Tottenham who have a game in hand.
Giroud feels they Blues can still make the Champions League places.
Conte said, 'you have to stay positive in every moment of the game despite the scoreline. He says he was 'very angry' with our first-half performance,' believing they lacked desire and will to fight. He said he is the first person to take responsibility for that as the coach.
Conte added, he is very happy for Giroud, adding he is in top condition now. 'I have two good strikers and I try to make the best decision at the start of the game or during the game.'
How much do you think @hazardeden10 enjoyed that equaliser? 😝 #SOUCHE pic.twitter.com/v5VBIfWeuX
