Lisa Smith will have to wait until next week to find out if she is to be sent to prison for being a member of the terror group, ISIS.

The former Irish soldier was convicted of the crime six weeks ago and appeared in court on bail today for her sentence hearing.

Several psychological reports were presented to the court today as part of an attempt by the County Louth woman's legal team to reduce the severity of her sentence.

By answering a call to travel to ISIS controlled territory in Syria in October 2015, the prosecution claimed the former member of the Irish Defence Forces, now 40-years-old and living with her mother and daughter back in Ireland, had effectively enveloped herself in the black flag of ISIS.

She had converted to Islam a number of years before that and had been radicalised online by a man now known to have been an ISIS fighter.

All of the reports handed up today described her as 'damaged' and a 'very vulnerable person.'

Her barrister asked the court not to send her to prison or to at least take into account the amount of time she spent in appalling Syrian prison camps.

Her sentence will be handed down next week.
