Prince will reportedly play a gig at his home studio this Saturday.
The music icon will open his home and personal recording complex Paisley Park Studios near Minneapolis to the public for a gig, where he will be joined by both his new band 3rdEyeGirl and his old band New Power Generation. According to City Pages, a $50 donation is required at the door, and mobile phones will be banned – No dodgy footage online post event so!
3rdEyeGirl drummer Hannah Ford said of the show: “We really just wanted to open up Paisley to the public and invite Minnesota and anybody else who can make it out. This one is moreso like a spur-of-the-moment event to spend time with our community and throw a big concert for everybody and show off some of the stuff we’re working on.”
Prince’s Paisley Park Studios is a $10 million complex built in the suburbs of Chanhassen near Minneapolis. The singer has been using it as his primary location for recording and rehearsing since he opened it in 1987.
Prince has been releasing a slew of material online in recent months via his 3rdEyeGirl website. Earlier this year, the singer and his new band embarked on a theatre tour of North America, with gigs in Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Las Vegas, San Diego, Anaheim and Denver. They played two shows a night at most venues.
