For the first time in almost a decade, Bob Dylan played ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’ live on stage.
Dylan was on stage at the Outlaw Music Festival with Willie Nelson when he dug out the track from his back catalogue, which includes the iconic lyrics: “everybody must get stoned”.
The music legend had previously been making headlines for putting obscure reworks into old standards.
However, it was roles reversed, as Dylan performed ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’ for the first time in 8 years, the opening track from his classic album ‘Blonde on Blonde’ from 1966.

The show also saw Dylan perform ‘Spirit On The Water’ for the first time since 2018.
His live set also included live covers of Willie Dixon’s ‘My Babe’, Hank Williams’ ‘Cold, Cold Heart’, and Chuck Berry’s ‘Little Queenie’. He also performed four separate songs from his own 2012 album ‘Tempest’, including ‘Long And Wasted Years’ and ‘Scarlet Town’.
Bob Dylan Biopic Gets Release Date
This live performance comes days after it was also confirmed that the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic ‘A Complete Unknown’, will arrive on US screens Christmas Day this year, before hitting UK and Irish cinema screens on January 17 next year.
This movie will also see the music icon portrayed by Timothée Chalamet.

The casting of Chalamet in the lead role of Bob Dylan has been met with a myriad of comments from fans online, with some even suggesting that this movie will feature heavily at next year’s Oscar’s ceremony.
“This movie will drop in December. I hope it’ll be recognized for the Oscars. This movie right here from what we have seen is amazing. I am so here for this!”, one fan said.
However, some fans were quite critical of Chalamet’s portrayal of Dylan from the trailer.
“I am never going to see this as anything but Timothee Chalamet doing Bob Dylan cosplay”, one added.
Bob Dylan also confirmed that he will be bringing his Rough and Rowdy Ways tour to the UK later this year, while also revealing that he has banned the use of mobile phones at these shows.
