Kellie Harrington will box for back to back Gold Olympic medals on Wednesday, after winning her lightweight last-16 bout this afternoon in Paris.
The Tokyo gold medalist and reigning 60kg champion was in fine form as she eased to a 5:0 unanimous decision win against Italy’s Alessia Mesiano.
Speaking to RTE after the fight Kellie reserved special praise for her loved ones and her favourite breakfast show: PJ Gallagher & Jim McCabe on Radio Nova’s Morning Glory!
PJ & Jim said in reply, “We are delighted to see Kellie the champ win again! Her being a champion herself means she knows a champions when she hears them…or maybe we are just a couple of heavyweights.
