Two fearsome Britpop rivals put their differences aside recently, as Damon Albarn and Noel Gallagher performed together. They were playing at a show to mark the 60th birthday of Clash bassist Paul Simonon.

The Clash bassist Simonon will turn 60 this Tuesday (December 15) but he marked the milestone with a gig last Sunday night. Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey, Albarn collaborator Jeff Wootton, rapper Kano and others were among those who attended.

Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn teamed up to perform a few Clash numbers as well as playing songs from Albarn's side project Gorillaz. They played three Clash songs 'I Fought The Law', 'Brand New Cadillac' and 'Janie Jones' and Gorillaz tune 'Dare'.

There were also performances of Gorillaz 'Clint Eastwood' with Kano rapping the verses and another Clash song 'Guns of Brixton at the birthday party.

Those in attendance were eager to capture the performance of Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn. Lots of videos were put up online of the two performing together.

You can check out a video of Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn playing 'Dare' together down below.
