The trailer for the newly restored version of their concert film, 'Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII', has been released.
Originally directed by Adrian Maben, the film shows the band playing a live show at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii in October 1971, with just the basic film crew in attendance. The film shows Pink Floyd playing tracks from their career up until that stage, including 'Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun', 'Echoes', and 'One Of These Days'.
This newly restored film will arrive in cinemas and IMAX worldwide on April 24. Tickets for this film are on sale now, and you can get your hands on some via this link here.
It was restored from the original 35mm negatives, which were only recently rediscovered, including enhanced audio, which was newly mixed by Steven Wilson.
“Pink Floyd: Live At Pompeii is a rare and unique document of the band performing live in the period prior to ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon", Pink Floyd's Nick Mason said of the film.
A press release for 'Pink Floyd At Pompeii MCMLXXII', said the following.
“Pink Floyd At Pompeii pre-dates the release of ‘The Dark Side Of The Moon’. The film documents what Pink Floyd did before they became giants of the album charts on both sides of the Atlantic – where their music remains celebrated to this day", they said.
“Set in the hauntingly beautiful ruins of the ancient Roman Amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy, this unique and immersive film captures Pink Floyd performing an intimate concert without an audience".

It was also confirmed that the cinema release is to be accompanied by a live album from Legacy Recordings on May 2.
Last November, Pink Floyd's David Gilmour has claimed that he was "bullied" on Pink Floyd's final album, The Endless River. More on this story from Nova here.
