John Frusciante, the guitarist with the Red Hot Chili Peppers appeared with the band for the first time since rejoining.
The event organised by the Tony Hawk Foundation was in memory of Andrew Burkel, son of billionaire Ronald Burkel and avid supporter of non profit, who died last month aged 26.
The legendary Chili Peppers played a variety of songs like “Give It Away” as well as covers of Gang of Four’s “Not Great Men” and Iggy Pop’s “I Wanna Be Your Dog.” Stephen Perkins of Jane’s Addiction was playing drums in place of Chad Smith.
During the Jane’s addiction set, Frusciante returned to the stage for a rendition of “Mountain Song,” jamming alongside Dave Navarro another exceptional guitarist, who used to play with the Peppers.
According to Spin relating to a post that Navarro put out on social media described the moment the duo joined forces as “Absolute magic.”T
Thesurprise show was a good warm up for their upcoming 2020 festival dates which include BottleRock Napa Valley and Boston Calling Music Festival. Check out the fan-shot clips from the event below.
