Elton John has said he was “blown away” after watching a cover of ‘I’m Still Standing’ recorded by a group of students in lockdown.

Pupils from Telford Priory School in Shropshire, have been creating remote videos together since lockdown began in March.

The pupils recorded the track using the video messaging app, Zoom. Their teacher, Ben Millington said that he received an email from Sir Elton shortly after the video was posted online.

Their cover was sent to the singer by musician Ron Sexsmith, prompting Elton to say it had “really cheered me up” in a personal message.

Sir Elton has also promised to welcome the pupils to one of his gigs when he performs in the country after the coronavirus crisis is over.
