Over the weekend as the city came to a standstill for a pair of Bruce Springsteen concerts, a local lad known as Bono joined The Boss onstage to perform a song.
On the second night of Bruce Springsteen’s two Croke Park gigs, he invited the U2 frontman up on stage. The pair have performed together in the past, but it was extra special for Bono as he was back in his hometown this time around.
Springsteen and Bono performed a classic track from rock legend Patti Smith. The two played ‘Because the Night’ during the Croke Park gig, as they both took up lead vocal duties for the song.
It’s not the first time that the pair have performed the song together as Springsteen, Patti Smith and Bono joined up to play the song at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25th anniversary shows at New York’s Madison Square Garden; it was also Bono who inducted Springsteen into the Rock Hall in 1999.
