Bruce Springsteen recently played a surprise set at a bar in his hometown of New Jersey. The set lasted 2 hours and contained a total of 15 songs played by Springsteen and Joe Grushecky and The Houserockers.
The gig took place at The Wonder Bar in Ashbury Park, New Jersey last Saturday. Joe Grucshecky reportedly came onstage at 10:15 playing three songs before Bruce Springsteen joined him as they played a mix of covers and tunes by both artists.
Among some of the Springsteen songs they performed were ‘Darkness on the Edge of Town’, ‘Adam Raised A Cain’ as well as ‘Racing in the Street’. Bruce Springsteen and Co also performed a cover of Joan Jett’s ‘Light Of Day’ which Bruce dedicated to the people outside “People out on the street, this is for you.”
It was a packed show already but when they heard Springsteen was performing, people flocked to the bar. Since it was so packed many people had to stand outside and listen to Springsteen, hence the dedication of the final song.
